On Friday, February 1, 2002, all Filipino Community kids had something to be proud of.
They made their own Mardi Gras masks. They embellished them with feathers, plastic jewels, buttons, plastic eyes, etc. Every kid and their parents had their beads around their neck - it felt like being in New Orleans.
It was so great seeing kids letting their creative side shine! I must say, these kids are extremely talented.
Mayden Carrillo organized the games. Parents and kids alike were so excited about the games; even parents participated. We had two games for each age bracket. The games were: Trip to Jerusalem, limbo, pi-ata, apple dance and egg dance. The kids enjoyed the egg dance most. The purpose of the game is to break the eggs. Both kids have the egg in a Ziploc bag with the string tied onto their waist. Both are face to face, far enough apart to try and break the eggs. Who ever breaks both of their eggs first wins. The whole community was having a grand ball.
Winners get a first place medal and a prize. We thank all the cooks for great meal.
Thanks so much for all of your help!
