Home-business class offered Wednesday

The Juneau Small Business Development Center will hold a class Wednesday on successfully working from home.

Karen Wilke, a member of the Juneau SBDC staff and a home-business owner, will present Operating a Home-Based Business. Participants will learn how to successfully run a business from home, covering topics such as setting up effective and professional home offices, managing both work and personal lives and avoiding the pitfalls. Zoning and insurance information also will be discussed.

The class will run from 6 to 9 p.m. in the third floor of the Juneau Empire Building, 3100 Channel Drive. It will cost $25. People wishing to attend will need to pre-register at 463-3789.

Silverbow promotes Summer Beagle

Jilneth, LLC, owner of the Silverbow Inn, Bakery, Catering and Cinema, has announced the promotion of Summer Beagle to the position of catering manager.

Beagle, who also serves as human resources manager, is one of two catering managers at the business. She also is pursuing her bachelor's degree at the University of Alaska Southeast.
