JUNEAU - Dr. Pamela Gruchacz, a surgeon with the Bartlett Regional Hospital Surgery and Specialty Clinic, will hold a free seminar to explain about weight-loss options, including the LAP-BAND AP system. The seminar will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Feb. 28, in the Robert F. Valliant Center Classroom 204A on the Bartlett Regional Hospital campus.
The LAP-BAND® System is the first FDA-approved adjustable gastric band for use in weight reduction. It was approved for use in for severely obese adults with a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 40 or more or for adults with a BMI of at least 35 plus at least one severe obesity-related health condition, such as Type 2 diabetes, hypertension and asthma.
Gruchacz earned her medical degree at the Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine in Maywood, Ill. She is board certified in general surgery and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
