JUNEAU - A 19-year-old Juneau woman was seriously injured Friday when she was dragged by truck.

Police have charged the suspected driver, Ryan West, 23, with assault.

At 4:44 p.m., police received a call from a person who reported seeing a woman hanging onto the outside of a truck as it drove down Airport Boulevard.

The caller said the woman fell off the vehicle and the truck drove away.

Police Sgt. Dave Campbell said officers found the woman lying in the road. She was medically evacuated to Seattle because of the severity of her injuries.

Investigators said the woman grabbed onto the truck after the driver stole about $500 from her.

West appeared at the police department at 8:30 p.m. and was arrested.
