NOORVIK - Alaska State Troopers arrested a man suspected of crashing his snowmobile into a dog sled near Kotzebue, killing a 53-year-old musher and injuring a passenger.
Patrick Tickett, 20, was charged with second-degree murder in the Nov. 19 death of Dr. Roger Gollub of Anchorage.
Troopers said Gollub was controlling the dog sled team and 39-year-old Tracey Schaeffer was riding in the basket. She was critically injured.
Tickett was indicted Feb. 13 by a Kotzebue grand jury on counts of murder, assault and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
He was arrested Friday in Noorvik.
Troopers said Tickett had been drinking, smoking marijuana and taking cocaine the day he collided with Gollub.
