Posted: Monday, February 22, 2010

ANCHORAGE - The Yukon Quest International Sled Dog Race is officially over.

The final musher, Jocelyne LeBlanc, crossed the finish line in Whitehorse, Yukon Territory, at 9:37 p.m. Friday, more than 13 days after beginning the race Feb. 6 in Fairbanks.

She received the Red Lantern Award, symbolic of pulling up the rear but finishing the grueling test of dog team and musher.

LeBlanc finished with seven dogs in harness. That was just half her original team for the run after Dawson City. She is a rookie who lives in Whitehorse.
