The Alaska State Chamber of Commerce is converging on Juneau to lobby again in support of big oil issues.
I checked on local, state and U.S. Chamber websites and their mission statements all very much support business, big and small. According to this chamber website, small business accounts for three quarters of all new jobs in this country and embodies the spirit of innovation, entrepreneurship and individual initiative.
I’ve wondered why the Chamber of Commerce felt so compelled to argue in support of Exxon Mobil before the U.S. Supreme Court during the final Prince William Sound oil spill litigation. Hundreds of small, innovative, hard working entrepreneurships ended up on the very short end of that stick and the Chamber of Commerce helped to make that happen.
Big oil appears very well connected to and represented by the Chamber of Commerce.
