Road could add Juneau to vacation dreams

My dream vacation is to tour Alaska in my motor home in three or four years following my retirement. I am planning to do a three-month trip. Juneau was not in my plans until I read about the possibility of a highway from Skagway to Juneau, and then it interested me because of the opportunity to drive there. The time factor of a ferry plus the expense of gas to drive that distance just wasn't appealing to me.

I can't tell you how much it would improve the economy with the added tourist trade that it would provide, but I know it would improve by two in the near future. A friend drove a motorcycle to Skagway and caught the ferry back to Seattle. He didn't stay in Juneau. I love to drive. If I want to ride a boat, I'll take a cruise.
