JUNEAU - The Alaska Senate will consider bills to promote energy efficiency in state buildings.
Legislation was introduced Friday that would create a system of prioritizing state facilities that need retrofitting and allow the state to contract with an energy services company to do the work.
Sponsors say they plan to introduce several measures this session aimed at reducing energy costs for Alaskans.
An estimated $28 million in federal economic stimulus funding is available to the state for energy efficiency and renewable energy, including weatherization.
