JUNEAU — The Bristol Bay town of Dillingham has been chosen to receive a $372,642 grant to fund a community domestic violence prevention program.

Program coordinator for the Council on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Lauree Morton says the funding would be used to set up a number of anti-domestic violence services in Dillingham, including legal advocacy, job training and childcare.

Morton says Dillingham was one of 11 communities to apply for the grant, and its program will be used as a test for future domestic-violence prevention efforts.

The grant was part of the Rural Community Domestic Violence and Substance Abuse Pilot Project, an Alaska Department of Health and Social Services initiative to combat domestic violence statewide.
