Driving while intoxicated:
Thomas Mendenhall, 49, was arrested at 8:30 p.m. Friday near Mendenhall Mall Road for drunken driving. He was lodged at the Lemon Creek Correctional Center.
Kenneth Wayne Smith, 39, was arrested about 11:30 p.m. Friday on Egan Drive for drunken driving and refusing a breath test. He was lodged at the state prison.
Zachariah Akin, 27, was arrested at 2 a.m. Saturday near Old Glacier Highway for drunken driving and on an outstanding Juneau police warrant. He was taken to the state prison.
At 8 p.m. Friday near Mendenhall Loop Road and Mendenhall Mall Road, a Pontiac Grand Am driven by a woman, 28, struck a GMC Safari driven by a man, 24. The drivers were treated at the scene by medics.
A woman, 34, and her daughter, 4, and son, 2, were evaluated at Bartlett Regional Hospital and released Saturday morning after they unexpectedly spent Friday night in sleeping bags on Windfall Lake Trail. Also spending the night out was the father, 35, who walked out Saturday morning to ask for help at about 11 a.m. Police and Capital City Fire and Rescue personnel found the rest of the family on the trail. The family had planned to spend the night at a hikers cabin, but couldn't find it.
