FAIRBANKS - Alaska State Troopers say a man who fled a Fairbanks robbery didn't get far.

The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner reports his snowmachine sank Saturday night in open water on the Chena River. Troopers found the 32-year-old man soaking wet on shore near the Pike's Landing with his pants around his ankles.

He's accused of taking $20 from a teenage boy in a restaurant restroom.

Troopers say the man had unsteady balance and slurred speech, but refused to take a field sobriety test. He's charged with robbery, driving under the influence and assault.
