Longtime Juneau resident Lucinda Burley, 72, died Feb. 24, 2002, at Bartlett Regional Hospital in Juneau following a long illness.
She was born Nov. 1, 1929, in Dallas, Texas, to Jossie and Dudley Slaughter. She moved to Juneau in 1962, where she met and married Cleveland Burley on Dec. 10, 1967. She was a charter member and an attending member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Juneau. Her family said she leaves a host of spiritual brothers and sisters.
Her family remembers she loved to crochet, garden and travel, and liked to visit friends and family away from Juneau.
She is survived by her husband Cleveland Burley, Juneau; son Rudie Galbert and his wife Irene, Camden, Ark.; daughter Danette Loney and her husband Edmond, Lakewood, N.J.; brother Rudy O'Bryant; eight grandchildren, six brothers and a host of nieces and nephews.
Interment services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, March 1, 2002, in the chapel of Alaskan Memorial Park in Juneau. Her friends are invited to attend the services. Her final resting place will be in Camden, Ark.
