John Garnero, left, and Robert Garnero stand on the road to Perseverance Mine in 1915. The mine was located on the Southeast side of Silver Bow Basin, about 2.7 miles east of downtown Juneau. The old mining road, which is now part of Perseverance Trail, is one of the more popular trails in Juneau for hiking, jogging and biking. Old mining ruins, wildlife and views of Ebner Falls attract thousands of people to this trail every year.
