I'm amused to read the "Chicken Little Hawks" letters advocating the war in Iraq and the writers who think "we" need to find these bad guys. If the Chicken Littles' definition of "we" is as convoluted as Bill Clinton's definition of "sex," the terrorists already are in the United States and the Chicken Littles needn't worry about the terrorists following our troops home.
Sound off on the important issues at
The Chicken Little Hawks whine about losing their "freedom." How do they define "freedom?" I think what makes us free is knowledge, a history of facts and events, rather than a belief founded upon mere assent. I don't hate President Bush, but I have zero confidence in his ability to manage a war. Bush's "facts" that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction and that Saddam had ties to al-Qaida were proved wrong. I refuse to assent to Bush's mistaken beliefs. Saddam Hussein is dead, as are his two sons. The weapons of mass destruction were never there.
Iraq has an elected democratic government. The United States has fought this war longer than we fought World War II, but the United States has won, won, won! Bush's banzai battle tactic of destroying improvised explosive devices by driving over them in Humvees is stupid, stupid, stupid! Bring our troops home. Redeploy and start the real war against terrorism using sane tactics.
