Posted: Tuesday, February 26, 2008

KOTLIK - Alaska State Troopers are investigating a shooting death in the town of Kotlik.

Troopers said the police department there requested the probe after 23-year-old Allen J. Okitkun was killed with a shotgun.

Okitkun's body is being transported to Anchorage for an autopsy.

The Bethel District Attorney is handling the case with crime scene technicians from Fairbanks.

Alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the shooting, troopers said.

Kotlik is a village of 600 people in the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta.
