The Juneau Empire will be holding a launch party for L'attitude this Friday (Feb. 26) at Troxels Steak and Seafood, in the Breakwater Inn, from 9 p.m. to midnight.
Not only will the party give Empire staff a chance to get out and quaff a few with you, our illustrious readers, while groovin' to the live music of Wellhouse, it gives artists and photographers who submitted to and/or published in this month's L'attitude a chance to get their work out there. And it gives you a chance to see it in all its glory and, possibly, put it on your wall. Or, in the case of sculptures, floor. Or to play it, if it's a guitar.
Some of the artists whose work will be on display are Dan Branch, Alan Munro, James Shewmake, Levon Alexander, Charity Green, Brandon Hauser, Danielle Grunow, Meghan Grunow, Averyl Veliz and Meggie Reinholdt. There will be sculpture, photography, painting and more.
All this will happen to the aural artistry of Wellhouse, which reunited in January after a 10-year hiatus. Bassist Ceann Murphy has described the group's music as having some "country twang" with a good amount of rock and roll.
The party will also feature door prizes - a shirt from Aurora Projekt for each of the first 25 people in line at 9, and raffle tickets for prizes from Alaska Dames, Nugget Outfitter, The Hangar on the Wharf and maybe more.
"This is a party to introduce L'attitude to the community," said Empire Marketing Coordinator and artist Meghan Grunow. "Since this is a largely reader-submitted publication, we're excited to directly introduce submitters to the people on the back end of things - and to just party and have fun."
Hope to see you there!
