Nerland named president of KeyBank's Alaska district:

Anchorage resident Brian Nerland has been named president of KeyBank's Alaska district, succeeding Michael Burns, who announced his retirement, effective Feb. 1, after serving in this position since 1985.

"We are delighted that Brian has been chosen as Mike's successor," said Yank Heisler, chairman and CEO of KeyBank, N.A. "His skills, combined with his history of the district, are exactly what we need to continue Key's growth and success in Alaska."

Nerland is a fourth-generation Alaskan who most recently served as senior vice president and commercial banking team leader for Key's Alaska district. He has 16 years of experience in the financial services industry.

Nerland has a degree in business from Seattle University and graduated with honors from the Pacific Coast Banking School held at the University of Washington. KeyBank has 17 branches in Alaska, three of which are in Juneau.

Carandang joins Alaska USA Mortgage: Alaska USA Mortgage Co. has announced the addition of Mae Carandang, mortgage loan originator, to its Juneau team.

Carandang has 19 years of experience in finance and management, three of those as a mortgage loan originator. She holds a bachelor's degree in banking and finance from the University of Batangas in the Philippines. She has been a resident of Juneau since 1994.
