Friday, Feb. 28

"Argentine tango: simple entradas, sacadas and voleos,"

An Argentine tango workshop with teacher Percell Rivere St. Thomass will be held beginning at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 28, at the Elks Lodge downtown. The workshop will continue through Sunday, March 2. An evening dance with instruction and ballroom music also will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 1.

St. Thomass is the director and choreographer of the performance theater "Balladagio." He directs dance academies in Anchorage and Hawaii and is a national adjudicator for the U.S. Independent Dance Council, a director of the American Professional Theatre Guild, and an instructor for the Fred Astaire National Dance Association.

The Argentine tango is an improvisational lead-and-follow dance from Buenos Aires. The workshop is sponsored by the Juneau International Folkdancers with support from the Juneau Arts and Humanities Council.
