I really appreciated your editorial comment on the Capitol design. I was shocked when I saw the artists' renditions/proposals. I was born here. I love that many of our neighborhoods have kept some of the natural landscaping, even the devil's club, around their homes, as well as keeping with the days of '98 look to South Franklin. If we wouldn't agree to McDonald's big Golden Arches on the corner of Seward and First, why would we hang an ultra-modern structure from Telephone Hill? I haven't seen anything this bad since Nimbus. I smile at the Wallen Bear every time I pass it. Now that's Alaskan. Our Capitol building should be equally "fitting" and not stand out like a sci-fi exhibit.
