Recreational trail grants awarded
Alaska State Parks announces the recipients of 2005 recreational trail grants.
The recreational trail program is a federally funded competitive and reimbursable matching grant process. Grants are available for development and maintenance of recreational trails and facilities, acquisition of trail rights-of-way and development of safety and environmental protection education programs. Awards are given throughout the state. Southeast Alaska awards include:
Battery Point Trail rehabilitation, $18,254 to widen, harden, provide maintenance and reroute sections.
Pt. Bridget Trail, $26,500 to reroute and rebuild sections.
Eagle River State Recreation Area Multipurpose Trail, $7,276 to top-cap existing trail with gravel to accommodate wheelchairs.
