Black Awareness Association hosts 'Juneau Star Search'

JUNEAU - In celebration of Black History Month and for its annual scholarship fundraiser, the Black Awareness Association is hosting "Juneau Star Search" at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the Alaska Native Brotherhood Hall.

The evening features a competition celebrating black entertainers of the 1960s, '70s and '80s, soul food dinner and door prizes. This non-alcoholic event is perfect for the whole family.

Tickets are $20 for adults, $12 for students with identification and $60 for families of four arriving together. Children 5 years and younger are free.

The menu includes barbecue ribs, fried chicken, fried catfish, baked beans, collard greens and cornbread, corn, candied yams, potato salad, green toss salad, homemade macaroni and cheese, sweet potato pie, peach cobbler and cake.
