Fairbanks police say teen may have died of exposure

FAIRBANKS - Fairbanks police say a teenage boy was found dead on the city's south side.

The body of a boy estimated to be 14 or 15 was found Monday afternoon in snow near Barnette Street and Garden Way.

The teen's family was located but his name had not been released Tuesday.

Police say the boy was not dressed for the elements and exposure may have been a factor in his death. Temperatures were in the teens.

It's the second suspected exposure death in Fairbanks in less than a week.

Julie Ann Tritt was found dead Saturday morning on Seventh Avenue. The 48-year-old woman had lived on the streets of Fairbanks for more than 20 years.
