PALMER - Alaska State Troopers are investigating the death of an 18-year-old snowboarder in Hatcher Pass.

The body of 18-year-old Royce Morgan of Wasilla was found late Wednesday.

He had been snowboarding with an older brother, 25-year-old Matthew Theodore.

They became separated. Theodore called troopers from the lodge, saying his brother was missing.

Troopers say the older brother then went back to the mountain to look for Morgan.

Just before 9 p.m., Theodore reported back to the lodge and told troopers he had found his brother, but he couldn't walk.

Troopers went to Morgan, but he wasn't breathing and didn't have a pulse. Medical technicians later pronounced him dead. The cause of death will be determined by an autopsy.
