Norwegian cultural fair to be held

The Sons of Norway Svalbard Lodge is sponsoring a Norwegian cultural far at 3:30 p.m. on March 5 at the Juneau Yacht Club.

A potluck will follow at 6 p.m.

The fair will feature stations for participants to experience hands-on activities and informational displays. Norwegian specialty foods will be served, including lefse and krum kaka with hot beverages. Community artists, authors, genealogists and musicians will be offering experiences such as hand figure carving, weaving, hand knitting, Norwegian language, literature, stamp collections, discovery of family roots and accordion music for folk dancing. Children’s activities will include Scandinavian games and a Billy Goat’s Gruff craft.

The event is free and open to the public.
