Brian Smith, son of Kirk and Deniece Smith, made the dean's list at Colorado State University. He was also accepted into the National Honor Society at Colorado State University. He is a second-year mechanical engineering student.

Tyler Smoker, of Juneau, spent January studying in China through a special study program at Linfield College in McMinnville, Ore. A junior majoring in English and philosophy, he is the son of Andy and Lauren Smoker, of Juneau, and Frances Robinson of Ashland, Ore. He is a member of the Kappa Sigma fraternity, the Linfield lacrosse team and the Outdoor Club. He is also a DJ for the student radio station, KSLC. He took the Asian Thought in China class, which dealt with the thought and culture of China with an emphasis on major philosophical traditions. He was among 194 students participating in on-site study programs through Linfield College's January term, a four-week period of concentrated study.
Brittany Rohm, of Juneau, was named to the dean's list for the 2006 fall semester at the University of Nevada in Reno. The dean's list honors students enrolled in 12 or more credit hours who have earned a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher in both journalism courses and overall courses.
Eric J. Ponce, of Juneau, was named to the dean's list at Colorado State University in Pueblo.
