The aircraft stopped in Juneau to pick up military participants for Unified Defense '04, an exercise involving personnel from more than 60 federal, state and local agencies nationwide. While here, it developed some mechanical problems, according to U.S. Coast Guard spokesman Cpt. Rodger Wetherell, and may be grounded for a day or two. The strategic airlift jet is nearly 250 feet long with a wingspan of 222 feet.
