Eaglecrest Ski Area had 110 inches of snow at the top and 16 inches at the lodge Saturday. Operators said the snow was sugary smooth on the corduroy groomed runs. Off the groomed runs the snow was variable: granular, good turns in open glades, and hard-packed in places, yet softening when the temperatures warm by afternoon.
Runs groomed Saturday were: Easy Bowl, Williwaw, Otter Slide, Inside Passage, Cheechako, Mother Lode, Barrel Roll, Lower Hilary's, Ego, Logjam, Raven, Sneaky, Trickster, Sourdough, Muskeg and Dolly Varden.
The Upper Hilda/Troy cross-country loop was trackset Saturday for classic and skate skiing. The Lower Meadow Loop was closed because of minimal snow cover.
Today, there are breakfast specials at the Mountain Cafeteria from 9 a.m. to noon. A Sadie Hawkins Day race will be held from 1-3 p.m. A local musicians Leap Year Jam will be held in the afternoon.
