Writer still chuckling at Condi's latest con

Letter to the editor

I got a sick chuckle out of Condoleezza Rice the other day. Apparently, a Russian general complained about the United States wanting to build missile bases in Poland and the Czech Republic. For some reason, Russians are leery of U.S. intentions when it comes to having missile sites near their country.

Sound off on the important issues at

Go figure.

Anyway, Condoleezza said the bases were being erected to protect Poland and Czechoslovakia from Iran. This latest con by Condi the neo-con is as contemptuous of Russia's intelligence as it is of ours. It is an effort to further portray Iran as an aggressor while we give birth to a new arms race, thereby increasing world tensions and distrust of the United States throughout the world.

Condi's little fib rivals Reagan's warning that Nicaraguan Sandinistas were within a two-day march of Texas. Sure glad the Sandinistas didn't take over Texas. If they had, George wouldn't be president. That was a close one.

It sounds like Karl Rove's "Lies For Any Occasion" kit needs to be restocked. When are Condi, Karl, George and Dick going to pull the Giant Purple People Eater out from under the bed?
