JUNEAU - A bill naming the Alaskan Malamute as the Alaska State Dog is on its way to the House floor.

It was moved out of the House State Affairs Committee on Thursday after receiving testimony via telephone from students at the Polaris School in Anchorage.

Students there asked Rep. Berta Gardner, an Anchorage Democrat, to sponsor the bill.
