Another period of high winds are expected to slam Juneau on Wednesday. The National Weather Service is calling for gusts between 70-90 mph, with the strongest winds near downtown Juneau and south Douglas. Locations that are typically wind-sheltered can still receive winds gusting to 40 mph.
Guts could hit 65 mph until about noon today before a brief period of diminishing wind speeds begins this afternoon and runs through the evening.
The highest measured gust from the weekend was 150 mph at an elevation of 3,540 feet at Sheep Mountain south of Juneau. The highest gust at sea level was 103 mph at Cape Spencer in Cross Sound.
