Reason: "I like dancing with everyone. It's fun. It's comfortable to dance at school because everyone is doing the same thing. I practice at home and sometimes at recess. I've been dancing about one year."

Sound off on the important issues at

Future plans: "It will be easy to keep dancing because it's fun. I also want to be a pilot.

Other art: "My favorite artist is Pablo Picasso. I did a report on him. He made up cubism. My favorite composer is Fredric Chopin. As a little boy he sat under the piano and listened to his sister play."

Activities: "I play basketball, a little baseball and a little football. I am first chair in G.V. Morning Musicians, but I'll have two weeks off because I chipped a bone in my pinky finger. I'm a pretty good basketball player, and mom taught me to cook pasta!"

His physical education teacher, Susie Denton, says: "Alex Soboleff is not just a wonderful dancer, he is a gentleman. Alex has no fear of trying something new, such as ballroom dancing. He is a willing learner. He practices until he masters a dance. Before you know it, he's teaching others. The most positive characteristic about Alex when he dances is that he has fun dancing, and that makes others want to join."
