5th Annual Rainforest Hockey Tournament - The fifth annual Rainforest Classic "Oldtimers" Ice Hockey Tournament will take place March 2-4 at Treadwell Arena. About 120 players ages 35-and-older, including former professional players from the Alaska Aces and other leagues, will compete at the tournament. Three Juneau teams will take on squads from Anchorage, Petersburg, Whitehorse and Dawson City. The tourney starts at 3:45 p.m. Friday and runs until 11 p.m. Saturday's action starts at 8 a.m. and runs until 6 p.m. The championship games take place Sunday morning at 8 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. Admission is free.

Alaska Hockey Bantam D state championships - The Juneau Douglas Ice Association will host the Bantam D Alaska Hockey State Championships at Treadwell Arena. Juneau will battle five teams for the state title. Games start 9 a.m. Friday with the championship game taking place at 4:30 p.m. Sunday.

March 3 - Eaglecrest Winter Games. Put on by University of Alaska Southeast, the events include night skiing, tubing surprise, prospecting kid's obstacle course, team race, downhill dummy competition and snow art. March 4 - Women's All Day Ski Workshop "Yes You Can!". This is a specially designed workshop for skiers of all abilities, taught by PSIA certified women instructors. Info: 790-2000 x211.

March 9-11 - Mighty Mite State Championships. This is the state skiing championships for competitors ages 9-12.
March 11 - "You Go Girl!" Women's half-day snowboard workshop.

March 17 - Pepsi Day. Dual slalom, obstacle course for kids on Platter and tubing Pepsi surprise. Free Pepsi products will be available.
March 18 - "Get Out of Your Rut!" All-day ski workshops for adults who ski Hooter and Ptarmigan. Also, day two of Nordic clinics with Steve Hindman, featuring classic and skate ski styles.
March 22 - Seniors' Edge from noon to 3:30 p.m.
March 24 - "Ski for All" ORCA annual fundraiser at Eaglecrest.
March 26-30 - Spring Break Ski/Snowboard Camps for all ages and all abilities for skiers and boarders.

Co-ed Master's Indoor Soccer Sunday - The Co-Ed Master's Soccer Sundays is for experienced men and women soccer players over the age of 30. There will be no formal teams and no referees. Dzantik'i Heeni open gym - Community Schools in cooperation with the PEP grant is sponsoring open gyms at Dzantik'i Heeni Middle School on Saturdays from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. for youth in grades 6-12. Open Badminton Gym - There will be open badminton at Auke Bay School from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Mondays and Thursdays. All skill levels are encouraged to attend. Bring a racquet if you have one. Birdies will be provided. Cost is $3 per person. Info: Theresa, 790-2499.

Mt. Jumbo Gym Preschool Open Gym - The Mt. Jumbo Preschool Open Gym is open to the public on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 10:30 a.m. to noon for all children ages 1-6. Children must be accompanied and supervised by an adult at a maximum ration of four children to one adult. Play equipment and tumbling mats are provided. There is a $1 per child cost for the program. Zach Gordon Youth Center climbing wall - Climbing wall hours are 5-7 p.m. on Mondays, and 3:30-7 p.m. on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. The climbing wall can be used by people of all ages. Climbers age 20-younger climb free, while adults 21-older pay $5 to use the wall. Youth-adult interaction is encouraged, so an adult climbing with a youth pays no fee. Evening masters swimming program - The Augustus Brown pool hosts a twice-weekly evening masters swimming program. The program will meet from 6:30-7:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and is designed to promote and improve the physical and mental well-being of adults age 19-older. Basketball/volleyball court rentals available - The Juneau Community Schools program has basketball/volleyball court rental times available from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays at Dzantik'i Heeni Middle School. The cost to rent the court is $20 per hour, which must be paid at the time of rental. This is for adult activities only. Info: Juneau Community Schools, 463-1717.
Juneau Department of Parks and Recreation Wednesday and Saturday hikes - For updates on locations of Wednesday and Saturday group hikes, call the Juneau Parks and Recreation Hikes Hotline. Always remember to bring plenty of food and water, wear warm layers of clothing and proper footwear for the hike. No dogs or firearms are allowed. Wednesday hikes are limited to hikers 18 years of age or older. Saturday hikes are open to families, and children must be accompanied by an adult.
