FAIRBANKS - A Fairbanks woman has claimed the red lantern as the last musher to cross the finish line in the Yukon Quest International Sled Dog Race.
Iris Wood Sutton arrived in Fairbanks at 10:41 a.m. Saturday, just less than 14 days after beginning the race Feb. 14 in Whitehorse, Yukon Territory.
Becca Moore of Willow traveled with Wood Sutton for the final half of the race but arrived 28 minutes earlier.
Sebastian Schnuelle won the 1,016-mile race in 9 days, 23 hours and 20 minutes, four minutes ahead of second-place finisher Hugh Neff.
