FAIRBANKS - A man awaiting trial for the death of a downtown business owner received a sentence on an unrelated charge.

Brian Towndrow, 21, pleaded guilty to one count of sexual assault. He received less than one year jail time, two years suspended sentence and will have to register as a sex offender for 15 years.

He still remains in jail on $1 million bail awaiting trial with two other men facing allegations linked to the death of Daniel Fredrick, owner of Blondies Antiques and Military Supplies.

Court records list Towndrow as the man who strangled Fredrick.

Towndrow was discharged from the Army after the sexual assault allegations were revealed.
