Former Juneau resident David W. Green died peacefully Feb. 28, 2010, with his wife by his side at their home in Kuttawa, Ky. He was 62.
Born on June 16, 1947, in Eldorado, Ill., he was the son of Alfred and Harriett (Land) Green. The family moved to Ohio before settling in Alton, Ill. He graduated in 1965 from Alton Senior High School. Shortly after graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served four years including one tour in Vietnam.
In 1972, he married Carole Massey, and they moved to Juneau. He worked at Foodland starting as a boxer, eventually moving up to dairy manager and then part-owner.
He enjoyed doing projects around the house in his spare time. He was also active with radio control airplanes for a number of years.
He is preceded in death by his father, Alfred Wayne Green; mother, Harriett Green Fraley; and step-father, Oliver W. Fraley.
He is survived by his wife, Carole Green, of Kuttawa, Ky.; brothers, Richard C. Green and wife, Kay, of Knightdale, N.C., and Michael Green, of Anchorage; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, David and Genelle Massey, of Juneau; mother-in-law, Jeannette Massey, of Alton, Ill.; nieces, Laura and Joseph Jordan, of Wake Forest, N.C., Michelle Meshke, of Anchorage, Amanda Massey, of Juneau, Melinda and Kevin Barry, of Craig, and Lonna green, of Anchorage; and great-nieces and great-nephews, Patrick and James Jordan, Ella and Eamon Meshke, Blake and Gloria Bixby, Brayden Massey-Jones and Delayna Barry.
Memorial services will be 3 p.m. Saturday, March 6, at the Milner and Orr Funeral Home of Paducah, with the Rev. Troy Jent officiating. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 6, at the Milner and Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.
