ANCHORAGE - Anchorage police officers killed an armed man after he approached them with a shotgun and refused orders to put it down.
The shooting happened early Monday morning. A woman called police saying she had been assaulted by her husband and fled to a neighbor's home.
Responding officers found the man barricaded inside his apartment. When they tried to go in, the suspect came out with a shotgun.
Police say he refused repeated commands to drop it. When he approached them, police say the two officers fired, killing him.
The man's name has not been released.
Per department policy, the officers are on administrative leave. Their names will not be released for three days.
