JSC holds its first skills competition

Juneau Skating Club crowns six individual champs

The Juneau Skating Club held its first-ever Basic Skills Competition on Feb. 19 at Treadwell Arena.

The competition allowed Juneau's youth figure skaters an opportunity to showcase their skills. There were five different levels of competition based on ability.

In Freeskate 2, designed for the club's most advanced skaters, Kayla Bishop won first place while Lyndsey Kelly captured second.

Rebekah Badilla and Laurel Araki shared the Freeskate 1 title. Both skaters received identical scores following their performances. Lynzey Culver placed second in Freeskate 1.

In the basic skills division, Carlie Kollar won first place in Level 7.

In the Level 6 competition, Megan Axmaker took first while Amber White placed second.

Katie Dimond won Level 5 while Molly Sanders and Catherine Walsh finished second and third, respectively.
