I am quite disturbed about the solution for the racism noted in our local high school of requiring action by the baby sitters (teachers) to solve this very serious problem. Unfortunately it appears no one wants to address the primary cause of racism, which is parents. This problem starts in your homes, not in the school.
I used the words "baby sitters" to indicate that is what some parents think of the teachers - to take the responsibility from parents. It's all too easy for a parent to make a disparaging remark about others at the dinner table, driving to a local store, while watching TV, etc., in front of the child and then wonder why the child mimics the parent.
Parents, you too need (no, not need - you must) mature and take responsibility, and before you get too excited, I'm not talking about all parents. The ones at fault probably don't read the newspaper, watch news on TV or listen to news on the radio. They are ignorant and could care less about their child's actions unless a police officer knocks on their door with bad news or the child is expelled. They will come up with an excuse about how everyone else is failing.
