Goldminers maintain Tier A lead

The Kensington Goldminers maintained their Tier A lead after routing the Ice Pirates 6-2 in Juneau Adult Hockey Association action on Sunday at Treadwell Arena.

Matt Boline scored a hat trick and added an assist while Dave Kovach had two goals and an assist in the win. Max Hensley scored for Kensington while Bob Bartholomew had two assists, Ryan Ruesch had one assist and Ian Leary had an assist.

Jerry Nankervis stopped 26 shots in the win.

Hayden Hoke and Scott Host scored for the Ice Pirates. Greg Smith, Colin Osterhout and Mike Bovitz provided the assists and Thomas McKenzie made 29 saves in defeat.

TIER A

Island Pub 3, Doc Water's Pub 2

Matt Foss broke a 2-2 tie with 7:46 left in the game as the Island Pub downed Doc Water's Pub on Sunday.

Dan Teske had a goal and assist in the win while Lance Miller scored a goal. Arnold Liebetz, Dan Fremgen and Foss had assists for the Island Pub.

Chip Verrelli turned back 15 of 17 shots in the win.

Jeff Wyatt had a goal and an assist to pace Doc Water's Pub while Ian Leary scored in defeat. Brian Van Kirk had an assist and Thomas McKenzie made 27 saves in the loss.

WOMEN'S A

Victorious Secret 2, Subway 2

Val Martinez scored off Christy Baseden's assist in the third period to give Victorious Secret a tie with Subway on Sunday.

Tami Watts also scored while Rissa Florendo picked up an assist for Victorious Secret. Jodie Pessolano made 19 saves in the tie.

For Subway, Jana Linfield and Karen Blejwas scored while Scott Sell stopped 37 shots. Rebecca Parks had two assists and Linfield had one assist in the tie.

TIER B

Capital Embroidery 2, Bleu Chunks 2

Two first period goals helped Capital Embroidery seal a draw with Bleu Chunks on Sunday.

Dave Blaisdell and Shawn Haase scored for Capital Embroidery. Darryl Tseu and Blaisdell picked up assists in the tie.

Capital Embroidery goaltender Liam Carnahan stopped 17 shots.

For Bleu Chunks, Peter Sommers and Dawn Momblow scored while Michelle Warrenchuk had two assists. Momblow also had an assist and Jeff Goetz stopped 19 shots for the Bleu Chunks.

WOMEN'S B

Les Schwab 4,Alaska Glacier Seafoods 2

Alena Craigova' scored twice while Mary Hausler and Kasey Fudge added one goal each in Les Schwab's Sunday win over Alaska Glacier Seafoods.

Craigova' and Fudge had assists, as did Ellen Canapary, Beth Chapman, Michelle Kissling and Wendy Hickok. Karla Bush stopped nine shots in the win.

Jenn Ward and Debbie Vance provided the goals for Alaska Glacier Seafoods while Stephanie Kohlhase and Kathleen Walsh chipped in assists.

Alaska Glacier Seafoods goaltender Christy Baseden made 14 saves.

TIER C

Blue 2, Air Excursions 1

The Blue team rallied for two third-period goals to down Air Excursions on Sunday.

Don Schneider and Gary Zepp scored in the final period to help the Blue overcome a one-goal deficit. Barbara Blake and Schneider assisted on Zepp's game-winning goal.

Scott Sell made nine saves for the Blue team.

Alpheus Bullard scored off Zach Jones' assist early in the first period for Air Excursions. Pete Sommers made five saves in the loss.
