FAIRBANKS - The Fairbanks North Star Borough School Board has asked for a $31 million bond election.
The borough assembly must approve the October election. The school board made the request in an unanimous vote Tuesday.
District officials say the bond would pay for major maintenance and updates to schools across the district, including technology upgrades.
Part of that would be supplying each student and staff member with access to a computer, at a cost of about $5.5 million.
