Anchorage assembly lets labor deal stand

Posted: Thursday, March 05, 2009

ANCHORAGE - The Anchorage Assembly has dropped its attempt to rescind its approval last year of a labor contract with city employees represented by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.

The assembly, however, plans a new round of public hearings on $20 million in budget cuts to address shortfalls.

The effort to rescind the IBEW contract vote was sponsored by Assembly Vice Chair Dan Coffey and South Anchorage Assemblywoman Jennifer Johnston.
