Word of Mouth gives readers a forum to express opinions on a variety of issues by telephone. Calls must be limited to one minute. We reserve the right to edit calls for clarity, length and libel. Callers must leave their name and a number at which they can be contacted (usually between 8 a.m. and noon). Only comments accompanied by a name will be published and only after the caller's identity is verified. Callers' names will appear in print. Call 586-4636 and press 8255 to leave a message.
Congratulations on now being an interesting and legitimate column.
I don't view the exit exam as a threat or consequence to the students at all but rather as a wake-up call for our teachers to better educate our kids, stop graduating functional illiterates and earn that raise they keep complaining about.
If you were at Eaglecrest on Monday and you ski on stainless steel Volants, please check to see if you have the right skis. If not please call me at 789-9237 or Eaglecrest at 790-2000 to see about exchanging skis.
I'm not too pleased with the change of format in Word of Mouth. I wonder if everybody in the community would like their names attached to the ballots as well. I think this is an attempt by the establishment to see if they can silence people.
I've never before called Word of Mouth because I've always felt uncomfortable leaving a message in anonymity. Bravo to the Empire for raising the level of discourse. Please print my John Hancock.
I think that your article basically signaled the "kiss of death" of the Word of Mouth. It would have been better if you had folks leave their name and telephone number as part of the call but not make it public. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted.
