Former Juneau resident Joyce L. (Weymouth) Peterson, 80, died Feb. 15, 2002, at her home in Wenatchee, Wash.
She was born Feb. 5, 1922, to Signa and Claude Lyle Weymouth in the Ballard area of Washington. She met and married Maynard Peterson in Juneau in 1941. They raised their eight children at the Mendenhall Dairy until the summer of 1961. They spent their last 41 years together in northwest Washington, finally settling in Wenatchee.
Her family said she was a woman who was always open to trying something new and had many different adventures. She was involved in many organizations and craft groups. Her family said she was outgoing and will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her only sister Jean; two children; and her husband Maynard.
She is survived by her children Kay VanKeuren, Los Angeles; Ronald Peterson, Juneau; Dody White, Ketchikan; John Peterson, Sedro Woolley, Wash.; Linda Nestor, Chelan, Wash.; and David Peterson, Mount Vernon, Wash.; 18 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and daughter-in-law Janis Peterson, Poulsbo, Wash.
A remembrance gathering will be held at Meadowridge Senior Park Clubhouse in Wenatchee from 2-4 p.m. on Saturday, March 9, 2002.
