Please think about this: How is it possible that you can think it is better to make a contract with companies that have a 30-year record with Alaska of not paying full value for resources removed from our state?
We have also had to take them to court in several instances, and they continue to take extended periods of time to pay off other debts to us, or engage in decades of litigation over damages awarded to us by the court. (Exxon Valdez settlement)
Does it not make better sense to retain our resource for ourselves? We could then make jobs for Alaskans out of our resources for the next 30 to 50 years, right here in our state, instead of living a subsistence lifestyle, or worse - having to survive in a homeless shelter.
I would like to see my grandchildren have the opportunity to have a good job and make a decent living right here in Alaska, rather than have to move to Texas or London to work for a company that's taking our resources.
