A higher price to pay at Juneau pumps

While I had heard on the national news that gasoline prices across the country had risen lately, I still think it is time to point out Juneau's absurdly high gasoline prices.

Sound off on the important issues at

This was brought to my attention when I traveled to Anchorage for National Guard duty a couple of weeks ago, and the rental company's notice said the average gasoline price around town was $2.15. Actually, when I filled the car's gas tank prior to returning it, I was able to fill the tank with regular unleaded for $2.08 per gallon. That's about 69 cents cheaper than the Fred Meyers pumps in Juneau.

Usually the price difference between Juneau and Anchorage has been about a dime and not more than 20 cents. I think it's time to raise a ruckus about price gouging in Juneau again.
