Richey posthumously named to Alaska High School Hall of Fame

JUNEAU - Former Juneau-Douglas High School football coach Reilly Richey was named to the Alaska High School Hall of Fame on March 1.

Richey was the Crimson Bears' head coach form 1997-2005 and helped lead JDHS to multiple state tournament appearances. He first joined the team in 1990 as a defensive coordinator.

Richey, 51, died in March 2005 after a long battle with cancer and hepatitis.

Former Kake basketball coach Dwayne Davies also made the Hall of Fame. Davies led the Thunderbirds from 1984-1990 and won a pair of state tournaments.

The official induction ceremony will take place April 20 in Anchorage.
