Geneva Ann Harris passed away peacefully in the arms of her loving parents on Jan. 13, 2011 at the Providence Medical Center NICU in Anchorage, a victim of Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy.
Geneva’s heart valves were donated and will provide a good and strong life for another bundle of joy. Her family wrote “during her short time on Earth she touched many lives and is deeply loved by family and friends.”
Geneva was born Jan. 11, 2011 in Juneau, to Stephenie Harris, a teacher for the Juneau School District, and Kyle Harris, a manager at the Nugget Alaskan Outfitter. In addition to her parents, Geneva is survived by maternal great-great-grandmother Edna Loree of Stuart, Fla.; maternal grandparents Steve and Kathy Messing; maternal great-grandparents Jean and Leroy Messing; aunt Erin Messing; paternal grandfather Dean Harris of Flint, Mich.; aunt Claire Harris and her partner Uncle Tom Bowe and two cousins, Ariana and Leona, all of Elma, Wash. Geneva is also survived by numerous great aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Geneva was preceded in death by paternal grandmother Nancy (Flint) Harris, maternal great-grandmother Patricia Stephens, and honorary grandparents Phil and Remy Speer.
Geneva was cremated and her ashes will be spread at a memorial gathering on May 15, 2011 at Point Louisa in the Auke Village Recreation area at noon. A potluck celebration will follow at the big shelter.
