Alaska USA donates more than $11,000 to children
Alaska USA Federal Credit Union recently donated $11,905 to Children's Miracle Network to benefit Providence Children's Hospital in Anchorage and the Children's Hospital and Regional Medical Center in seattle. The monies were raised through sales of CMN holiday music CDs with a 100 percent matching contribution from Alaska USA.
All contributions from alaska USA will directly benefit the children receiving care in CMN hospitals in Alaska and Washington.
Potluck to focus on foreign missions
There will be a Foreign Mission potluck at Northern Light United Church Fellowship Hall, 5-6:45 p.m. on Sunday, March 11. The meeting will be a time of sharing about short-term missions in Central America and the Caribbean. Representatives from recent short-term mission trips to Belize, Dominican Republic, Honduras and Guatemala will be available for questions. Call Rachel Sanders at 586-5794.
Bowl for Kids' Sake
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Juneau is kicking off signups for its annual community event, Bowl for Kids' Sake! Families, organizations and businesses are invited to sign up as a bowling team at the Nugget Mall on March 10 from noon to 1:30 p.m. Bowling teams consist of four or five friends who raise money for Juneau's Big Brothers Big Sisters program. This year's Bowl for Kids' Sake will be held Saturday, April 28, and Sunday, April 29 at Channel Bowl. Call 586-3350.
Nurse's aide training
The University of Alaska Southeast is offering a summer Certified Nurse Aide class beginning May 22. Financial aid is available for students able to work after their training in a health care facility in Juneau. Southeast Alaska artists are invited to submit artwork for the Bed and Breakfast Association of Alaska Inside Passage Chapter logo contest. The winning logo will become permanent, identifying artwork for the BBAAIP. The creator of the winning logo design will receive a monetary award of $100. Call the Silverbow at 586-4146.
