Juneau environmentalists protest the 1981 visit of James G. Watt, secretary of the interior under President Reagan, by greeting Watt with a 21-chain-saw salute at the Alaska Capitol. Watt visited Juneau and Glacier Bay, among other places. Watt, in office from 1981-83, was a strong supporter of developing federal lands for logging and other commercial interests.
